How RZK Flood Shield Water-Activated Bags Work

1. Keep the Bag Dry Until Needed

Store your RZK Flood Shield Bags in a dry place until there is a risk of flooding.

The Jute Bag and Non-Woven Bag remain lightweight and easy to store when dry.

Dry weight: approximately 450g per bag.

2. Place the Bag Where Protection Is Needed

Before water reaches your property, place the bags across:

  • Door entrances

  • Main gates

  • Garage entrances

  • Shop shutters

  • Warehouse entrances

  • Other vulnerable entry points

For better protection, position the bags closely together without leaving large gaps between them.

3. Add Fresh Water

Once positioned, place the Jute or Non-Woven RZK Flood Shield Bag in contact with fresh water.

The bag begins absorbing water and expanding.

Activation time: approximately 3–5 minutes.

Important: Use fresh water for activation. Do not intentionally activate the bags using salty or seawater.

4. The Bag Expands and Forms a Barrier

As the absorbent material inside the bag takes in water, the bag becomes heavier and expands.

The activated bag can reach approximately 16–20 kg, depending on water absorption and conditions.

This creates a stable temporary barrier that helps reduce the movement of floodwater through vulnerable entry points.

What Happens After the Monsoon?

After the floodwater or rain has receded, don't throw the bags away.

Simply allow them to dry properly and store them for the next rainy season.

How to Dry Your RZK Flood Shield Bag

Step 1 — Remove the Bag From Standing Water

Once the flood threat has passed, carefully remove the activated bag from standing water.

Allow excess water to drain naturally.

Step 2 — Place It in a Well-Ventilated Area

Place the bag in an open, clean and well-ventilated area where air can circulate around it.

A covered outdoor area, balcony, terrace or other suitable ventilated location can be used.

Avoid storing the bag while it is still wet.

Step 3 — Allow It to Dry Naturally

Let the bag dry completely through natural air circulation.

Depending on weather, humidity and ventilation, drying may take several days.

Turn or reposition the bag periodically so different sides can dry properly.

Step 4 — Do Not Store Until Completely Dry

Make sure the bag is fully dry before storage.

Do not place a damp or partially wet bag inside a closed box, plastic bag or cupboard, as trapped moisture can cause unpleasant odors or damage.

Step 5 — Store for the Next Season

Once completely dry, store the bag in a clean, dry and ventilated place, protected from unnecessary moisture.

What About the Traditional Sandbag?

The Traditional Sandbag works differently.

It does not contain water-activated absorbent material. Instead, it is filled with suitable material such as sand, soil or gravel according to the required application.

After use:

  1. Empty the sandbag if required.

  2. Remove excess dirt or debris.

  3. Allow the bag to dry completely.

  4. Store it in a clean, dry place.

  5. Refill and reuse when needed.

    The Traditional Sandbag is a practical option where a strong, customizable and conventional flood barrier is required.
